According to reports Chelsea is in talks with Atletico Madrid for central defender Toby Alderweireld and will offer the Spaniard’s left-back Filipe Luis to push the deal through.
Alderweireld spent all of last season on loan at Southampton where he put in some stellar performances that caught the attention of not only Chelsea but other Premiership clubs as well, which now has the Blues scrambling to get the Belgium international to move to Stamford Bridge.
Luis however did not fare so well at Chelsea following his £15.8 summer move from Atletico Madrid spending most of his time on the bench with Mourinho preferring to give the left-back start each week to César Azpilicueta.
Meanwhile Southampton were hoping that they could keep the 26-year-old at St Marys as he is surplus to requirements at the Vincente Calderon, but with Chelsea now in the frame willing to trade Luis, the Blues have moved into pole position to get a deal done.
