Disappointed by Chelsea’s poor start to the season Blues boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly been given the money by club owner Roman Abramovich not only to sign Everton defender John Stones but anyone else the Portuguese manager thinks will get his teams title defence back on track.

With that in mind the Daily Mail says the Blues are preparing a late raid for Manchester United target Pedro, after the 28-year-old Spanish international found playing time at the Nou Camp hard to come by.

Louis van Gaal sees the 28-year-old World Cup winner as the ideal replacement for Angel Di Maria at Old Trafford, and was on the brink of getting a deal done until Chelsea popped up at the last minute looking to hijack the transfer.

The Blues believe that they have the financial muscle to pull off the deal, and with Pedro’s former teammate Cesc Fabregas already at the Bridge; they hope to convince the Barcelona wide-man to choose them over United.
