It would appear as if Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho just cannot stop having pokes at his Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger, yet on this occasion we here at Soccer Transfers feel as though the Portuguese manager has a valid point.

Following Chelsea’s 3-1 home loss to Southampton, Blues boss Jose Mourinho accused referees of being “afraid” to award Chelsea a penalty. The FA apparently took offense with what Mourinho had said, and issued him with a £50,000 fine and a suspended one match stadium ban.

To be quite honest this seems a little harsh given the fact that just a couple of week’s earlier Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger called Mike Dean “weak and naive’” following Arsenal 2-0 loss at Stamford Bridge.

While speaking at a book launch yesterday Mourinho said:‘I am happy I don’t have an electronic tag. I think it’s not far from that, but I’m happy I don’t have an electronic tag.’

‘I think that £50,000 in the world where we live today is an absolute disgrace. An absolute disgrace. I also think that the possibility of getting a stadium ban is also something absolutely astonishing.

‘More difficult for me to understand is when I compare different people (Wenger) with similar behaviours, with different words or with similar words.

‘But the word ‘afraid’ is a punishment and a hard punishment. But to say the referee was ‘weak and naive’, referring to one of the top referees in this country and in Europe, we can do.’

You can hear all of what Mourinho had to say in the video below.
