Chelsea’s Russian billionaire owner Roman Abramovich is flying out to Saint Petersburg so that he can personally handle the signing of Zenit midfielder Axel Witsel, according to reports.
Several top European clubs are interested in signing the 26-year-old Belgium international after he helped Zenit win the Russian league last season.
Abramovic however wants to make sure that Witsel signs for Chelsea and is going to Russia in order to sit down with Zenit president Alexander Dyukov Valeryevich in an attempt to come up with a deal that will not only suit both parties, but will see Witsel moving to London in the coming weeks.
