Chelsea, Arsenal

As the financial crisis continues in Russia with the rouble now trading at a ten year low against the dollar even some of Russia richest oligarchs have taken a beating with Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov losing $809 million and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich $449.5 in the past week.

We are sure that the two of them will not be losing any sleep over the losses with Usmanov still having $13.4 billion and Abramovich still having $12.8 billion to play with according to Vanity Fair magazine.

Meanwhile Chelsea clearly state that there is no correlation between owner Abramovich’s financial standing and the clubs business with Chelsea already having set a target of being financially self-sufficient by next July.

The Blues most recent accounts published last Friday show a loss of £66 million last year despite Abramovich having invested £700 million since 2003.
