Chelsea outcast Mohammad Salah is on the verge of joining Serie A giants Roma on a season long lone after having refused to sign for fellow Italian side Fiorentina despite having been at the club since January as part of a deal that saw Colombian international Juan Cuadrado join Chelsea.

According to Calciomercato Rudy Garcia’s club has agreed to pay Chelsea £1.4 million for the initial loan deal with a further £14 million should they decide to sign the 23-year-old permanently at the end of the season.

Meanwhile just last week Blues boss Mourinho confirmed that Salah had no place in his current Chelsea team saying: “He doesn’t belong to my squad and he’s not staying here.

“The important thing is that he plays like he did at Fiorentina, so [I’m] happy with him going on a loan.

“Italian football is difficult football to play, especially for attacking players. So if it’s not Fiorentina it’s Roma or Inter or Juve – I don’t know. Maybe he has a loan.

“He’s a good boy and a good player. He needs more top-level football so I’m happy with any decision him and the club make.
