Madrid dailies Marca reports that Barcelona defensive midfielder, Sergio Busquets wants a move to England as a result of his low wages in Catalonia.
Busquets who has won every trophy in World football (Champions League, Copa del Rey, La Liga, World Cup, European Championship and World Club Competition) earns £120,000-a-week in Barcelona. This is in sharp contrast to earnings in England as Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney earns an excess of £300,000-a-week and Theo Walcott earning £140,000-a-week in Arsenal.
Busquests is an undisputed first team starter of the Catalonia club and is regarded as the best defensive midfielder in the world when it comes to reading the game and positioning. Busquets is so enraged at his salary that it is reported he has asked that his current deal be reviewed even with three years still to run requesting for it to be increased to £150,000 which is the same amount that club captain Andres Iniesta earns .
This has alerted the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City who have announced Pep Guardiola as their next season’s manager. Busquets is interesting a whole lot of clubs as his age (27) shows he might not have even reached his peak yet.
