JOSE MOURINHO believes Brendan Rodgers can bring back the glory days to Liverpool.
The new Kop boss worked with Mourinho at Chelsea and the Special One says Rodgers is special, too.

Brendan is special, too

And Real Madrid chief Mourinho reckons his 39-year-old pal deserves a chance after his brilliant work with Swansea last season.

Mourinho said: “I am very happy with his appointment at Liverpool, especially because he did it as a consequence of all his amazing work at Swansea.

“Brendan is a good man, a family guy and a friend.

“When he joined us at Chelsea he was a young coach with lots of desire to learn.

“But he was also a coach with ideas, who was ready not just to listen but also to communicate and share.”

Rodgers will be officially unveiled as the new Liverpool boss this morning. But last night he made one of his first moves by sacking Mourinho’s former No 2, Kop coach Steve Clarke.

Clarke was immediately linked with the vacant manager’s job at Norwich and a return to Champions League winners Chelsea.
