LIVERPOOL will hold talks with Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers this week as they seek to end their search for Kenny Dalglish’s successor.
Rodgers is ready to listen to the Anfield club’s plans after previously rejecting them because they wanted to interview a large number of candidates.
The Northern Irishman’s credentials mean he is hoping to be installed as the leading contender.
Rodgers, 39, was due in New Jersey last night to see Wales play Mexico at the MetLife Stadium. The trip was arranged after the Liverpool owners, Fenway Sports Group, expressed interest in him.
FSG principal owner John W Henry met Wigan boss Roberto Martinez in Miami last Thursday for talks, while Dutch coach Louis van Gaal has also been sounded out by members of the Anfield hierarchy.
Van Gaal has been linked with the role of sporting director, as well as manager, although whether either Rodgers or Martinez would be prepared to work under him is doubtful.
