Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is flying out to China to watch Los Blanco’s pre-season friendlies against Guangzhou and Shanghai, and will during his time in Asia hold face-to-face discussions with 29-year-old Spanish international centre-back Sergio Ramos.

Ramos is refusing to sign a new deal at the Santiago Bernabeu, with many people at first claiming that his talk of joining Manchester United was just a ploy in order to get the Spanish giants to offer him a better deal at the club.

Since then however it has taken on a bigger meaning with Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal all in favour of signing Ramos, and is using Real Madrid’s desire to sign Red Devils goalkeeper David de Gea as a means of bringing the World Cup winner to Old Trafford.

In other words what LVG is actually saying is: “We know you want to sign De Gea, but you are going to have to give up more than cash if you hope to make a deal”.

Following the meeting with Perez we should know if Manchester United has a chance of signing Ramos, but should news emerge that Perez, has as is being speculated offer to make the Spaniard the clubs new captain, I think we can assume then that a deal is not going to happen.
