Arsenal

All Arsenal fans are assuming that come the summer Arsene Wenger with his mighty war chest of what we were told in January was £120 million will be out there going toe to toe with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho in a quest to sign a World Class striker.

Well for a start that is not going to happen as “Le Professeur” is far too diligent when it comes to spending Arsenal’s money almost to the extent of thinking that it is his own hard earned gains.

If anything the past two weeks may also have an influence on how he goes about bolstering the squad in the summer after seeing the clubs record £42.5 million signing Mesut Özil miss a penalty in what was a dismal performance from the young German who needed to be told by his teammates that he had to defend as well as go forward.

Then there was the player everybody wanted to see come to the Emirates in January, Julian Draxler who hardly did anything right last night as Schalke were hammered 6-1 at home by Real Madrid which had Gooners taking to twitter to express their happiness that the attacking midfielder did not join Arsenal suggesting instead the team go for Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus who scored in his sides impressive 2-4 win away at Zenit St. Petersburg.

Much will of course depend on how Arsenal finish the season hopefully winning the Premiership which will take an enormous amount of pressure off of Wenger and how he spends in the summer, but of course if Arsenal were to end up once again with no silverware the knives will be out asking why he only signed a player with a bad back in January rather than a striker that everyone was expecting as it does not make sense unless you agree with the theory put forward by Bleacher Report Transfers Correspondent  Allan Jiang.

Jiang thinks that Wenger made the decision to sign Kallstrom as a goodwill gesture to Spartak Moscow after he found out that the player he really wanted Ghanaian striker Abdul Majeed Waris had already been sent out on loan by the Russian club to struggling French Ligue 1 side Valenciennes.

With Waris representing Ghana in next summer World Cup, Wenger has re-established a dialogue with his parent club in able to sign the Black Star forward before the World Cup starts on June 12th fearing that should he have a good showing on the world-stage his selling price would increase dramatically.
