The Racing Posts Mark Langdon thinks that Chelsea would be making a huge mistake if they were to sell German international Andre Schurrle during this Januarys transfer window.

The World Cup winner had been on the Chelsea fringe this season more or less playing second fiddle to Eden Hazard and Willian.

Should Chelsea sign Colombian winger Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina this month it could spell the end on Schurrle at Chelsea.

While speaking to talkSPORT Langdon said: “It would be a mistake to sell Schurrle. He still has a lot to offer, even off of the bench because that is a specialist role, to come off the bench for half an hour and change a game like he sometimes can.

“Wolfsburg have a lot of money in Germany and are pushing hard for the Champions League, so maybe it would be an attractive option for Schurrle because he would play every week.

“You’ve seen it with Kevin De Bruyne, he left Chelsea because he wasn’t playing and he has been one of the superstars of this European season.”
