With rumours suggesting that Ajax manager Frank De Boer is in the running to land the job at White Hart Lane the Daily Telegraph is reporting that his assistant in Holland former Arsenal player and now Gunner legend Dennis Bergkamp will not be joining him at Tottenham.
At first we thought it was because no true Gooner could ever switch allegiance and have anything to do with their team’s bitter rival, and then we remembered that Dennis Bergkamp has a dreadful fear of flying.
Tottenham’s interest in De Boer has raised questions about whether he would want to take Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp with him to White Hart Lane.
Bergkamp is assistant to De Boer at Ajax, but it is unlikely that the former Arsenal forward will join De Boer at his next club. As was the case in his playing days with the Gunners, Bergkamp refuses to fly, which is a major drawback to his career prospects in coaching.
Bergkamp has not joined De Boer and the Ajax team in Jakarta, and misses Champions League and Europa League trips when he cannot make them by car or rail.
