Monaco

Here is a move not many of us saw coming and that is Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov joining French Ligue 1 side Monaco rather than a move back to his former club Tottenham.

Cash rich Monaco are in the market for a quick fix up front after losing star striker Radamel Falcao to injury and having loaned out Lacinia Traore to Everton.

Monaco manager Claudio Ranieri is looking at Berbatov as a short term replacement for his current problem and is likely to make the Bulgarian striker a nice tax-free to get him to join the  Principality’s side until the end of the season.

Likewise Fulham’s new manager Rene Meulensteen will be open to the idea as he looks to secure funds to be able to sign Everton defender John Heitinga.

The Dutchman is still keen to leave Goodison despite having turned down an earlier offer to join West Ham.

A move to play for the Cottagers would be certain to offer him the first team football he is looking for as he tries to get selected for Holland’s World Cup squad ahead of next summer’s finals in Brazil.
