Arsenal and Tottenham are lining up a cut-price move for Gareth Barry.

The Manchester City midfielder has just one year on his current deal and with the summer arrival of Fernandinho, City are willing to let the 32-year-old go on the cheap.

Spurs had been linked with Barry for a while, however the imminent arrival of Paulinho from Corinthians, means the former Aston Villa man has slipped down their list of transfer targets.

Arsenal aren't willing to match the midfielders current £100k a week deal, with Arsene Wenger against offering big and long contracts to over 30's.

The Gunners are leading the race to sign Barry however, and he would be willing to take a pay-cut to join the Emirates.

Fans of both London club's may not feel that Barry is the player their side needs, however at just £3million, Barry could be a solid squad member.

No Real offer for Bale

Gareth Bale's agent's recent comments about Real Madrid having no contact with the player is music to the ears of all Spurs fans.

The former Southampton man has been consistently linked with the Bernabeu, however Spurs are adamant the player is going nowhere.

Real Madrid brought Luka Modric from the London club last summer and Spurs fans fear the same could happen again.

Bale, unlike Modric, has never stated his desire to leave White Hart Lane and if Tottenham are to qualify for the Champions League this season, then they need to keep their prize asset at the club.
