Catalan giants Barcelona will not be allowed to sign any new players in 2015 after the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld a FIFA sanction imposed on the club.

Barca was alleged to have broken international rules when it came to signing players under the age of 18. Barca meanwhile took the case to appeal at the CAS headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.

This morning the court revealed that it had upheld the ban, and that Barcelona must now pay a fine of 375,000€.

Despite not being able to sign any new players for one-year Barcelona can still renew contracts with current players and recall players that are on loan at other clubs.

“The FIFA decision is confirmed in full and the sanction remains in force,” read a statement from CAS.
