With rumors flying left and right of Barcelona acquiring Arsenal’s Alex Song, Barcamidfielder Sergio Busquets has publicly stated (via ESPN) that he would welcome Song to the club.

Barcelona Transfer News: Sergio Busquets Reportedly Open to Acquiring Alex Song

The acquisition of Song would fill the void left by Seydou Keita, who left Barcelona for Chinese club Dalian Aerbin a couple of months ago.

Here’s what Busquets had to say about Song:

“Song is a very good player – young, a hard worker, with lots of physical power…Barca lose a lot without Keita, both on and off the pitch. He was a much-loved player who gave us a lot of physical power. Another player in my position would be welcome, but either way I will keep working hard to win a place in the starting team.”

One thing that Song would bring to Barcelona is a commanding midfield presence, as he plays both sides of the ball extremely well.

He can easily break up an opposition’s attack as well as set up his team for a score on offense despite not really being a goal-scoring threat.

What really makes Song successful is his energy level and motor, which seems endless at times for the opposition.

As for the deal itself, the International Business Times is reporting that Arsenal would want £16 million for Song—a price that Barcelona apparently feels he’s worth, according to the article.

Barcelona has also been linked to Javi Martinez, as reported by Yahoo! Sports, but it sounds like the price tag is a little too high right now.

Fans will have to sit tight and see how this plays out, but Song would come cheaper and very well may end up coming to Barcelona.
