In what could be bad news for Liverpool and Arsenal, Barcelona sent head scout Ariedo Braida to watch Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in action during the clubs 3-1 win at Werder Bremen.

The 26-year-old Gabonese international has been in blistering form for the Bundesliga club scoring 13 goals in just 11 league matches to help wet Liverpool and Arsenals appetite for the striker.

Barcelona had been banned from making any transfers last season, and are now said to have a war chest ready for new signings once the transfer window opens in a couple of months’ time.

Aubameyang has also given the Catalan giants hope that they may be able to sign him after telling Telefoot: “I signed until 2020, even though I always dream of playing in Spain.

“My grandfather died last year, and I promised him to play one day in Spain. He was a fan of Real [Madrid].

“I really hope to play in Spain one day, but the important thing for now is to focus on Dortmund.”
