Catalan giants Barcelona have drawn up a list of replacements for Xavi and Andres Iniesta as the pair of midfielders near the end of their careers.

Xavi is now 33 and Iniesta is not far behind at 29, and together they have been the heart of the Barcelona team, yet the higher ups at the Nou Camp know that replacements need to be found.

Spanish sports daily Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere who impressed Barcelona scouts while they were in England looking for up and coming talent.

Wilshere has had a terrific start to the season as has Arsenal top of the table after having played eight games.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will not welcome any moves by Barcelona to tempt Wilshere to Spain especially since the youngster just signed a new five-year contract with the Gunners last December.

Another player Barcelona is looking at is Atletico Madrid’s Koke who is being compared to Xavi, with Manchester United and Liverpool also showing signs of interest in the Spaniard.

The third candidate for Barcelona is Borussia Dortmund player Ilkay Gundogan, who is thought to be looking to move on after not renewing his contract with the Bundesliga side.

Barcelona are thought to be looking to make a January move on at least one of these three targets, but I cannot see Arsene Wenger letting go of Wilshere at any price.
