Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid

After coming off a week of tough Champions League matches bot Atletico Madrid and real Madrid slip up in their desire to become Spanish Champions.

A stoppage time goal was needed from Cristiano Ronaldo to salvage a point in their 2-2 draw with Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu after the visitors had led twice with Ronaldo coming to the rescue with a back heel goal two minutes into time added on.

Barcelona meanwhile slipped up on Saturday after only managing a 2-2 draw with Getafe while league leaders Atletico’s 2-0 loss at Levante earlier on Sunday had left the door open for Carlo Ancelotti’s men to make up lost ground in a weekend that saw all top three clubs fail to win for the first time this season.

A loss for Real Madrid would have put the title in Barcelona’s hands but following on from the draw with Valencia the title is up in the air.

Atletico now remain the favourite knowing that if they win their remaining two games they will be champions for the first time since 1996.

The final game however is away to Catalan giants Barcelona which has conspiracy theorists knowing that should the three teams win all their games prior to the final day, a Barcelona win would hand the title to their fierce rivals Real Madrid a situation in which some say Barcelona would prefer to lose rather than see happen.
