La Liga challengers Athletico Madrid have added Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud to their list of possible summer signings according to the Daily Mail now that manager Diego Simeone is resigned to the fact that Diego Costa will be leaving, most probably bound for Chelsea.

Giroud meanwhile has despite a couple of months of well publicized exploits off the field said that he was committed to Arsenal and that he wanted to stay at the Emirates.

Arsenal are also in the market for a striker with Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema the latest player rumoured to be on his way to north London for a reported £40 million.

Other possible striker targets for both clubs include Bayern Munich’s Mario Mandzukic, Tottenham’s Roberto Soldado, QPR’s Loic Remy and Chelsea’s Fernando Torres.
Arsenal know that they stand a better chance of landing a big name player should Giroud stay and that they are in next seasons Champions League.
