According to respected Spanish journalist Paco Gonzalez, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been in direct contact with Real Madrid Striker Karim Benzema in an attempt to get the 27-year-old French international star to move to the Emirates.
Arsenal is in need of a world-class goal-scorer this summer and Wenger thinks that after having secured the services of Petr Cech, Benzema is the man that will take then to that next level.
Meanwhile it is business as usual for Real Madrid, with no mention of Benzema being for sale, but due to the fact Rafa Benitez is now the manager there is talk that Benzema does not fit in to what he has in mind for the team which will allow Gareth Bale more freedom while utilizing Cristiano Ronaldo as a centre forward which make Benzema surplus to requirements.
