Despite what former England striker Rodney Marsh told American radio station SiriusXM that a deal is back on for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, after Los Blanco’s have agreed to a £45 million transfer fee, we think that the now 70-year-old Manchester City player has had a senior moment when thinking that his remarks would never be heard in the U.K.

Arsenal still seems no closer to landing Arsene Wenger’s preferred striker than they were before the summer transfer window opened with Eurosport now reporting that the 65-year-old Frenchman has turned his attention to Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.

The 28-year-old Uruguayan has had his problems with PSG trainer Laurent Blanc, and with Zlatan Ibrahimovic set to complete his final year in Paris, it means that Cavani would have to endure at least once more season of being played out of position.

Cavani will not come cheap though, and would almost certainly become the highest paid player at the Emirates, along with a transfer fee that would make him the Gunners most expensive signing.

And it is not just these two considerations Wenger must think about, but also the possibility of having to bid against Manchester United and possibly even Chelsea for the man who could given his goal scoring ability help guarantee wining the Premiership tile.
