Wigan are finalising a loan with Arsenal for Ryo Miyaichi.
The Japan international is still learning his trade having only featured in fits and bursts during pre-season.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger believes a year playing regularly in the Premier League will make him ready for the first-team at Emirates Stadium.
Miyaichi, a capture from his homeland in 2010, has had spells with Feyenoord and Bolton.
The move is likely to hasten the departure of Victor Moses who has been subject of a rejected bid by Chelsea.
