Arsenal scouts were in attendance at Goodison Park last night to watch Dynamo Kiev defender Aleksandar Dragovic in action for the Ukrainian’s Europa League clash with Everton.

Following the disastrous match against Monaco in the Champions League it would appear as though Per Mertesacker’s days at the Emirates are coming to an end, and despite the fact that Arsenal just signed Brazilian defender Gabriel Paulista from Villarreal, the Gunners boss wants to have more options available and sees the 24-year-old Austrian international as the ideal candidate to compete with his new signing for a place in the first team.

When asked by the Evening Standard newspaper about Arsenals interest in his star defender Dynamo boss Sergei Rebrov said: “You are asking about one of the best players in my team and I don’t want to lose this player.”

“He is a top-class player and I hope he will stay with us.
