Worried that they will now lose Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin to Manchester United, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is making moves to sign Monaco defensive midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia and is willing to pay the same £25 million they had set aside for the Southampton star in order to bring the 22-year-old to the Emirates.

Monaco who only signed the French international from Sevilla two years ago right away saw his potential slapping a £25 million price tag on him to ward off all but the serious buyers who include Arsenal and Inter Milan.

Wenger has followed the career of Kondogbia since his time as a teenager playing in France for Lens, before making the move to La Liga, and although Francis Coquelin had a stellar season for the Gunners Kondogbia’s box-to-box style of play would add some serious strength to the Gunners misfiled options.
