Arsenal is preparing to offer midfielder Jack Wilshere a bumper new deal in order to ward off any interest Manchester City has in signing the England midfielder.

Wilshere has not played for the Gunners much this season after having injured his ankle against Manchester United during their 2-1 defeat back in November, and yet despite his lengthy injury has got the interest of Manchester City as they look to overhaul their aging squad this summer and know they must add home-grown players to the team.

The Citizens also have Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson on their list as well, but are said to be ready to test Arsenal with a £25 million bid for Wilshere.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is well aware of Manchester City’s interest in Arsenal players, and knows that the Petroleum backed club is not shy when it comes to upping players salary’s in order to get them to move to the Etihad.

Knowing this Wenger is prepared to offer Wilshere a new £150,000 per-week contract to get the 23-year-old to commit his future to the Emirates according to the Telegraph.

On the injury front Wilshere could be ready to make his return to the team next weekend against Burnley after having completed a full 90 minutes for the U-21’s on Tuesday evening.
