Arsenal could make a surprise move for Liverpool striker Christian Benteke next summer according to Spanish sports new outlet Fichajes.net, who claim that the Gunners would be a logical choice for the 25-year-old, who would almost certainly help in their struggling goal scoring department.

Since the arrival of German manager Jürgen Klopp at Anfield, the big Belgium has found it difficult to get playing time finding himself often only being used as a substitute late on in games if the Reds need goals.

Even his time as a substitute now seems to have gone by the wayside with the last few games seeing Klopp use Benteke’s Belgium international teammate Divock Origi rather than the former Villa forward.

Despite the fact Benteke is now playing regularly at the moment he has proved himself in the Premier League and has the goal-scoring record to prove it.

What this means is that Liverpool will almost certainly get back the £32.5 million they paid to Aston Villa last summer.

Manchester United and Tottenham were both also interested in him before he joined Liverpool so whether or not they will compete with the Gunners remains to be seen.

Liverpool meanwhile would be reluctant to sell Benteke to one of their Premier League rivals, but given the fact his price tag puts him out of the reach of all but the top European sides they may have no choice but to sell him to another English club.
