According to the Daily Mirror Arsenal and Everton are both considering taking a chance on Almeria winger Edgar Mendez who is thought to be available for around £2 million.

There is no doubting the 23-year-olds talent, but consistency has been the problem, leading to him playing for a host of La Liga teams after having initially come up through the Real Madrid ranks playing for their C team before being forced to make a move away.

This season however he has caught scouts attention after joining Almeria last summer and now has two Premiership clubs considering taking a chance on him.

Despite his bargain price he would probably find it difficult to break into Arsene Wenger’s team, so the Gunners may be better leaving this one for Roberto Martinez and let Wenger concentrate on the defender and holding midfielder that the club needs.
