According to today’s Sunday People Arsenal is readying themselves to battle Manchester United for Benfica flyer Nicolas Gaitan in January.
The Argentinian winger was being linked to a move to Old Trafford all summer. With cross town rivals Manchester City also thought to be interested in acquiring the 27-year-olds services for the Etihad.
The newspaper however claims that Arsenal has had scouts at the Benfica stars games of late, and now must be considered favourites to sign him in January as Wenger prepares his team for a run at the Premier League title.
The £24 million rated winger has been in good form so far this season during Champions League competitions netting three goals in four games for the Primeira Liga team, and would easily suit playing in England.
