Arsenal summer striker target is now being linked with Liverpool

Liverpool is considering making an audacious bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema should the club qualify for Champions League football next season a

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has already signaled his intention to sign world-class talent should Liverpool make it back to Europe’s top competition says the website METRO.

According to Spanish sports newspaper MARCA Liverpool have been told by a third party that Benzema would consider joining the Reds at the end of the season leading to Rodgers being able to picture the French international teaming up with the Premierships leading goalscorer Luis Suarez.

Arsenal is known to be in the market for a new striker this summer, and has been since last season when they tried to sign Suarez for just over £40 million while also looking at real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain and Karim Benzema.

With Nicklas Bendtner almost certain to leave the Emirates during the summer  Arsene Wenger will be looking to add someone to either play alongside Oliver Giroud  or as a serious backup the question is just how much money do the Gunners want to spend.

Liverpool meanwhile will have the backing of the Fenway Sports Group and money available to not only make it to the last-16 of the Champions League  but with the prospect of Sturridge, Suarez and Benzema  leading the Liverpool attack put them right up there with any other club that feel as if they can challenge for the Premiership title.

Any deal for the Frenchman would likely cost Liverpool in excess of £25million, but his addition, along with the prospect of keeping Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, would make the Reds one of the clear title favorites for next season.

Real Madrid will be looking to get at least £25 million for the Frenchman which is more than within the limits of both Liverpool and Arsenal’s pocket.
