Arsenal still hopeful of signing £28m Midfielder

Arsenal is still in the hunt for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, and despite talk linking the Chilean international with a £28 million move to Bayern Munich, have not yet given up hope of bringing him to the Emirates.

According to Sport1 Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been keen on signing the 28-year-old midfield enforcer for some time, and despite the Bavarians seeing him as a replacement for Bastian Schweinsteiger Arsenal is willing to meet their bid and feels they can be more competitive on the wage front, with the added plus of being able to play with his international teammate Alexis Sanchez.

Arsenal also has their own problems following yet another injury to team captain Mikel Arteta who has had to pull out of the clubs pre-season tour of Asia, and with the 33-year-old only contracted to the Gunners until next season it may make sense to sign Vidal now while he is available rather than look for Arteta’s replacement next summer.
