Arsenal has turned down the chance to sign Newcastle United’s Cheick Tiote for £12million as the Gunners prepare to wait until a top talent becomes available.
Reports claim that Arsene Wenger was offered the defensive midfielder by the players agent, with Arsenal believed to have held talks regarding a move south.
The Daily Mail however has said that Arsene Wenger has decided against pursuing the 28-year-old during the January transfer window.
The paper claims that while Wenger wants a holding midfielder, but that he would rather wait until someone else became available.
Tiote is currently representing the Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup of Nations.
