Arsenal are making moves to expand their German scouting network in an effort to unearth the next Lukas Podolski.

The Gunners have already found the country a valuable breeding ground for talent, Per Mertesacker and Podolski are both important members of the first team.

While Serge Gnabry, 17, and Thomas Eisfeld, 19, have both left their native Germany to join the Gunners.

Manager Arsene Wenger has also followed German-born Mario Goetze, Mesut Ozil and Nuri Sahin extensively.

And the club will focus more attention on the region as they try to identify and secure the best emerging talent.

Gunners chief scout Steve Rowley is understood to have spent an increasing amount of time in the country implementing the plans.
