Arsenal Press Conference ahead of Palace clash

According to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, midfielder Jack Wilshere could return to the squad in time to play Crystal Palace at the weekend.

The England international has been struggling with injury but should be available on the bench, but not such good news for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Aaron Ramsey though, with Wenger saying they still need more time.

“Chamberlain is back in full training but is a bit short to be considered. Ramsey I think is 10 days away.”

When asked about having club legend Thierry Henry back at the club working on his coaching badges Wenger said: “Thierry Henry is making his first steps as a coach.

“It’s good for our youngsters to be coached by him.

“He’s been here once or twice.”

Adding: “All our former players are welcome to come back here and get their coaching badges. We’re happy to have him.

Moving on to talk about the upcoming match against Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace the Frenchman said: “It’s always very intense, an old-fashioned stadium at Palace and the crowd is always completely behind their team so we expect a passionate afternoon.”

“They have found confidence again and have got positive results with their new management.”

Meanwhile Pardew thinks that Santi Cazorla should be in the running for Premier League player-of-the-year, and Wenger agrees with him.

He said: “Until now he has been the most consistent and since he has moved to the centre he has been voted player of the month twice

Earlier this week Cazorla was mentioned as a summer target for Athletico Madrid, but Wenger is not worried about losing one of his star players.

“He extended his contract last year. I don’t think there’s anything to worry about, we’ve not been approached.” Said the Gunners boss.
