Arsenal has be warned that they must act quickly if they have any intention of signing Atalanta central midfielder Daniele Baselli after the clubs director general Pierpaolo Marino let it be known that talks over a big money move are taking place with AC Milan.

Baselli has been one of the standout players of Serie A this season with rumours that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was considering trying to sign the 22-year-old.

While being interviewed by Tuttosport Marino claimed that talks were under way with the Italian giants, but they were still quite away off from getting a deal done.

Marino said: “The deal for Baselli to Milan is real, but it’s not done yet. There is no certainty that it will be concluded.

“President [Antonio] Percassi and I were able to speak with [Milan Vice-President] Adriano Galliani, who showed great interest in the lad.

“Milan have a moral first option on our player, yes, but I absolutely would not say that the deal is already done.”
