Bundesliga side Wolfsburg are reporting on the clubs official website that they have signed Bayern Munich’s Luiz Gustavo for an undisclosed fee, meaning that once more Arsenal have lost out on a player by having their bid rejected.

Arsenal had bid £17.2 million for the Brazilian midfielder with the 26-year-old preferred to stay in Germany and continue his career in the Bundesliga.

Following the arrival of Pep Guardiola at the Allianz Arena and the subsequent signing of Thiago Alcantara from Barcelona Gustavo’s future was in doubt with the German champs so he decided to leave.

In this instance I do not think we can blame Wenger for bidding too low, as it is more a question of where Gustavo feels comfortable playing.

Still it is another signing that has slipped away from the Gunners with just two weeks remaining in the transfer window.
