Arsenal is set to make a move for Valencia striker Paco Alcacer ahead of the January transfer window.

The 21 year old has been one of the young strikers coming through in Spain.

He scored 7 goals for Valencia last season in the Europa league, which included a hat trick in the memorable 5-0 win over Basel that helped overturn a three goals deficit. He got 14 goals last season.

Paco Alcacer has started the new season in good form. He already has 2 goals and one assist in three games for Valencia, while he scored in his first competitive appearance for Spain in a Euro 2016 qualifier against Macedonia last week.

The report linking him to Arsenal, states that it would take a fee of around £20 million to price him away from Valencia.

Scouts from some top European clubs like Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona have watched him closely as he continues his goal scoring form.

With the January transfer window still three months away, a lot is expected to happen between then and now.

Despite this report that Arsenal are looking to move for the 6ft striker, it looks improbable that Arsene Wenger would consider signing another striker in the coming window.

The Frenchman has not ceased to mention at every given opportunity that he already has enough strikers at his disposal.

This was before Danny Welbeck was signed on transfer deadline day as a result of Oliver Giroud’s injury.

A situation which means that bringing in another striker in Paco Alcacer looks improbable at best.

With Paco Alcacer just 21 years old, and the fact that Arsenal have striker’s in that age bracket in Danny Welbeck who is 23, the developing Yaya Sanogo, 21, and Joel Campbell, 22, it means there is already enough young strikers at the club that are yet to hit their peak years.

This is before the 18 year old Chuba Akpom is brought into the picture.

The Under-21 striker has formed a reputation for scoring goals at youth level.

It is normal that transfer stories like Paco Alcacer would still continue to run ahead of the January transfer window, though it looks very unlikely that Arsenal would move for the 21 year old.

With a fee of £20 million being brandish about as a possible fee for the Valencia hit man, it would take an unusual turn of events for Arsene Wenger to sanction such move especially when there are pointers that the club would look to the more pressing need of addressing the lack of numbers in defence.
