Metro is this morning reporting that Arsenal has opened talks with Brazilian club Gremio in the hope of signing their talented young defender Bressan.

According to reports coming out of Brazil the Gunners held talks with the powers at Gremio to ask what it would take to bring their 21-year-old star to the Premiership and now plan further talks that will see Arsenal chief negotiator Dick Law being sent to Brazil.

Bressan began his career at Juventus before moving back to Brazil, and has been the interest of Santos after some impressive performances despite a move back to Europe seemingly on the cards.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger sees Bressan as an ideal candidate to challenge Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny and Thomas Vermaelen, and should Arsenal be able to agree terms and secure a work permit the centre-back should move straight into the first team next season.
