Arsenal is close to signing Ramsey and Carzola to new contracts

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was pleased to say when asked during his press conference ahead of Saturdays FA Cup quarter-final clash with Everton that the club were very close to signing Cazorla and Ramsey to new long-term contracts.

“Not yet,” he said when asked if the deals are done. “We are very close. Very close. We will announce as soon as we are over the line.”

There is also talk today in the Spanish press linking Cazorla with Atletico Madrid who see the former Malaga playmaker as the perfect replacement for Spanish youngster Koke who is expected to leave the Vicente Calderon this summer.

This follows on from last week’s signing of both Tomas Rosicky and Per Mertesacker as Arsenal get their house in order before wading into the transfer market during the summer.

Meanwhile Bacary Sagna, Lukasz Fabianski and Nicklas Bendtner and loanees Viviano and Kim Kallstrom all look as though they will be on their way out with fans still hoping that a solution can be found to Bacary Sagna at the Emirates.

There is also talk today linking German international Lukas Podolski to Inter Milan, and with the 28-year-old not getting the playing time he would like at Arsenal,  it is looking more and more like he could be leaving in the summer as well.
