Arsenal goes after Swedish midfielder

With it appearing as if Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has thrown the towel in on Schalke’s Julian Draxler the Gunners have swung their attention in the direction of Swedish midfielder Kim Kallstrom who they hope to be able to sign on loan from Russian club Spartak Moscow.

The 31-year-old is seen as cover for Aaron Ramsey who is now expected to be out for a further four to six weeks, and for Mathieu Flamini who is suspended for the next three games.

Kallstrom moved to Russia in 2012 after spending six years with French Ligue 1 side Lyon and will bring a wealth of experience to the Arsenal team having received 108 caps for his country.

While it might not be the kind of signing Gooners were hoping for there is still time for a big deal to be done as was the case with the last minute signing of Mesut Özil last summer.
