Arsenal enters the race for £30 million Striker

Surprise, surprise Arsenal has now entered the race along with Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea for Aston Villa’s 12 goals in 12 games striker Christian Benteke.

The big Belgium international will have one thing on his mind when he takes the field at Wembley for the FA Cup final on Sunday, and that is to score goals so that he and his Villa teammates can lift the trophy.

Arsenal manager Arsene meanwhile will hope that defenders Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny will be able to handle the big man, while at the same time wishing he was playing for Arsenal.

‘He’s a player who has massive potential,’ admitted Wenger.

‘I think some of the bad fortune at Aston Villa this season was linked with the fact that Benteke was not there.

‘When he came back into the team he gave a lift to everybody and of course he has a fantastic leap, he’s intelligent and he can score goals with his feet.

‘He’s fantastic in the air and can score headers against any team.’

With bidding expected to begin at £30 million with such big clubs involved we will not be surprised to see him leave Villa Park in the summer for £35 million or more a figure all the clubs following him could easily afford to pay.
