Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that Napoli and Juventus have the best chance of winning this season’s Europa League.
Both of the Serie A sides were casualties of the group stage of the Champions League with Napoli being the unluckiest after amassing 12 points equal to both Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund but with a lesser goal difference.
While talking to Eurosport about how he thought the Europa League would pan out Wenger said: “Every year in Geneva it’s discussed whether the teams eliminated from the Champions League are more likely to automatically become the absolute favourites in the Europa League or not.”
“Well, I think this is the case of Juventus, which I don’t think will have problems against Trabzonspor.
“However, I also think this of Napoli as well as in the competition in general.”
Thursday night’s results saw Juventus manage a 2-0 home win against Trabzonspor while Napoli managed a 0-0 away draw at Swansea City.
