Arsenal have joined the race to sign Benfica’s Renato Sanches according to reports. Manchester United have been keenly linked to the signing of the high rated youngster with some reports claiming the Red devils have an unwritten agreement with the player’s club that he will be sold for £60 million to the Red devils.

Arsenal will however appear to have taken an interest in the player as they reportedly sent scouts to watch the player play this week and should the scouts have positive reports to send back to manager Arsene Wenger, Arsenal will be making an attempt to beat Manchester United to the signing of the player.

Bayern Munich have also said to have sent scouts to watch the 18-year-old play lately which means there could be a bidding war for his signature in the summer. With many of Arsenal stars likely to leave this summer, the Gunners could do with a player such as Renato Sanches but knowing Wenger, he is unlikely to pay £60m for an established player let alone a player who is just 18-year-old.

Renato Sanches from all reports seems a decent player but certainly not a player in the £60m bracket. Another reason why Arsenal may not be signing the player is the fact that he is been managed by super Agent Jorges Mendes who Wenger reportedly does not like.

In my opinion, Arsenal could be watching another player at Benfica while the media wrongly thinks it is Renato Sanches the Gunners are watching.
