Former Sampdoria goalkeeper Sergio Romero is set to have a medical with Manchester United after accepting a move to Old Trafford, according to the latest reports.

Manchester United has been talking with the Argentinian international for a number of days now, and it would appear as if he has agreed to join the club despite interest from AS Roma according to Sky Italia.

The 28-year-old is a free agent after having walked away from Sampdoria, and knows Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal well from the time the pair spent together at AZ Alkmaar.

Romero will become United’s No.2 goalkeeper following a bust up between LVG and Victor Valdes, that now sees the Spaniard on the transfer list, and as to who will be the Red Devil’s number one keeper next season all bets are off until whether or not David De Gea signs for Real Madrid.
