Angelo Henriquez is eager to force his way into the Manchester United first team rather than gain experience on loan.

Angelo Henriquez determined to fight for his place at Manchester United

The 18-year-old Chilean striker had a medical at Old Trafford yesterday and was due to meet manager Sir Alex Ferguson today to sort out his future.

That could be a loan switch to an English club or back to his present team Universidad de Chile.

However, Henriquez says he wants to force his way into Ferguson’s plans as soon as possible, despite having to fight fellow new boy Robin van Persie – as well as Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez – for a place.

‘I am super happy to get to Manchester United,’ he said.

‘I’m fulfilling a dream. I am going where I wanted. You look on TV and see outstanding players scoring spectacular goals. I cannot waste this opportunity.

‘It is not clear what will happen with my future. I want to play in the first team. If they decide to send me on loan, I would prefer to continue at Universidad, although I will do whatever United deem appropriate.’
