Liverpool fan favourite to replace Brendan Rodgers at Anfield, Jürgen Klopp has according to the London Evening Standard turned down the chance to take over the Mexican national team, giving Reds supporters a boost hoping that the former Borussia Dortmund boss wants to move to Merseyside.

The report says that Mexican Football Federation secretary general Guillermo Cantu has confirmed that they made an approach for the 48-year-old to see if he would be interested in replacing interim manager Ricardo Feretti.

“We spoke to his representative, but he said he is on a sabbatical and it would not be possible now,” he told Mexican TV programme Marcaje Personal.
