Paris Saint-Germain manager Carlo Ancelotti was full of praise for star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the Swedish star guided his side to a 1-0 win over Nancy on Saturday.
PSG were sluggish throughout as they battled to overcome a resilient Nancy outfit, until Ibrahimovic intervened in the 75th minute to preserve the French league leaders’ unbeaten run, leaving Ancelotti – not for the first time this season – grateful for the intervention of his summer signing.
“I thank Ibrahimovic. He is a fantastic player,” Ancelotti said. “We lost here last season, so this is an important win for us.
“This win will increase the character and personality of this team. The second period was better for us, as we played with more intensity. [Mathieu] Bodmer and [Adrien] Rabiot gave greater security to the team.
“[Javier] Pastore was not used to playing in midfield, which explained our early difficulties, but he did well once he moved behind the strikers, though things were difficult for [Jeremy] Menez tonight.”
Ibrahimovic’s winner takes him to 10 goals from just nine Ligue 1 appearances this season, with the win over Nancy maintaining PSG’s lead at the top of the table.
