Fulham midfielder Clint Dempsey could be on his way to London giants Arsenal in the summer if reports in the Daily Express are to be believed. The American had been touted to move to the Emirates in the winter and although a concrete move wasn’t made, the Gunners could swoop in this time.

American star could be on his way to Arsenal

Dempsey has been pivotal for Fulham this season and has scored 19 goals in 39 appearances for the Cottagers. Although he is 29-years old, he could prove to be an excellent short term acquisition for Arsene Wenger’s side.

The main advantage that Dempsey brings to a side, apart from his goal scoring prowess, is his versatility. Not only can he play as a central midfielder, but can also be deployed as a winger and a supporting striker and could be made to operate anywhere in the frontline in Arsenal’s preferred 4-2-3-1 formation.

The aforementioned daily suggests that a bid of around £10m could be in the offing and that amount may just be enough to lure the Cottagers into doing business. However, the only roadblock to this move is the fact that Wenger has lined up a string of younger signings in the summer and financial constraints may prevent him from making a move for the Fulham ace.
