While all the talk in the red side of Manchester has been about the possible signing of Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas following the club missing out on Thiago Alcantara, who in the end went to Bayern Munich critics are claiming that it is nothing more than a smokescreen to hide the fact that United executives have been in talks with Real Madrid these past ten days discussing bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford.

The Portuguese international has still not signed a new contract with Real Madrid, and with the imminent arrival of Gareth Bale who will not by the way be joining his teammates for a friendly against Monaco this weekend the talk is that once the Bale move is announced more news on Ronaldo will then come out.

Manchester United are being aided by their kit sponsor Nike who would like to see Ronaldo sporting one of their Jerseys to go with everything else he wears which is all Nike. Currently playing for Los Blancos he wears a jersey made by rival sportswear company Adidas that has the Nike bosses fuming.

The big money putting the deal together though is from American car giant General Motors and in particular Chevrolet who will become Manchester United’s top sponsor at the end of the year, and with the World Cup coming out GM see Cristiano Ronaldo as the perfect global ambassador to help sell their cars in Europe, and South America.
